The annual dinner was held on the 28th of February 2020 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chester. Over 200 guests attended the dinner including Law Society Chief Executive Paul Tennant, Welsh Assembly Government Minister Ken Skates and the head of the Law Society in Wales, Jonathan Davies.
The evening began with CNWLS President Osian Roberts delivering an opening address where he thanked outgoing president Carol Draycott’s hard work and praised the work of retiring secretary Amy Norman. He also stated that he looked forward to the year coming and working closely with the Vice President and Vice President-Elect.
Paul Tennant then addressed and emphasised the work of local law societies and their engagement with the profession.
After the starter and the main meal, the guests were entertained by Lois Griffiths and Ceri Roberts who sang two songs accompanied by Rachel Philips.
The dessert was followed by a toast by Holly Skelton to members of the legal profession.
After the dinner formalities, an Irish Band (Wee Bag Band) played and members of the legal profession showed their dancing skills (or lack of them!).
A total of £1126.30 was raised by way of charity donations on the evening which will be divided equally between Hope House children’s hospice and the Parkinsons society.
