Speaker: Jane Canham, Starrar Cowdry
Leasehold Enfranchisement began with the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and the last statute was the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act nearly 20 years ago. Change has been long awaited and the Law Commission has recently issued a number of reports on valuation, Right to Manage as well as the major issue of ground rents of leasehold houses.
The Government has announced that there will be new legislation but we do not know when that is likely to come into force.
Jane Canham will look at the world of leasehold enfranchisement now and the changes that may come.
