So far this year, the Cheshire and North Wales Law Society has hosted a varied programme of seminars and events designed to keep members informed, connected and prepared for changes across the legal profession.
From developments in employment law and property taxation to AI-powered search and NHS Wales regulation, our sessions have brought together expert speakers and legal professionals to share valuable knowledge and practical guidance.
Employment Law in 2026 and Understanding SDLT and LTT
We began the year on with our Employment Law in 2026 webinar.
The session provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to catch up on the latest legislative developments, important cases and topical issues affecting employment law. It helped members begin the new year with greater confidence and clarity about the changes and challenges ahead.
During late January, James Clark hosted an insightful session exploring the complexities of Stamp Duty Land Tax and Land Transaction Tax.
The seminar examined how SDLT and LTT apply to partnerships, trusts and estates, offering valuable guidance on an often complicated area of property taxation.
Future-Proof Your Firm: Get Found First with AI Search
Our February seminar focused on one of the fastest-changing areas of digital marketing: AI-powered search.
Hannah Spelman and Kate Smith explained how law firms can integrate Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) into their digital marketing strategies. The session explored how firms can strengthen their online visibility, increase brand awareness, attract more qualified enquiries and compete effectively within AI-powered search results. It also gave attendees practical insight into how changing search habits could affect the way prospective clients discover and choose legal services.
Listening to People: NHS Wales Regulation
During April, we welcomed legal clinical negligence professionals to an online session exploring the latest NHS Wales regulations.
Listening to People: NHS Wales Regulation gave attendees an opportunity to learn from experts, improve their understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape and connect with professional peers working within this specialist area.
Our 2026 Annual General Meeting
Our programme continued with the Cheshire and North Wales Law Society’s Annual General Meeting, held in person during May at the Crowne Plaza Chester.
The AGM provided an important opportunity to reflect on the Society’s work, look ahead to its future plans and encourage more members to become actively involved.
This year, we highlighted opportunities for enthusiastic new committee members who would like to help shape what the Society offers in the years ahead. With meetings predominantly held online and only a small number taking place in person, joining the committee offers a rewarding and accessible way to contribute to the local legal community.
Thank You to Our Members and Speakers
We would like to thank all our speakers for sharing their time, knowledge and expertise, as well as every member and guest who attended and contributed to the sessions.
Our seminars and events play an important role in supporting professional development, encouraging discussion and strengthening connections throughout the legal community across Cheshire and North Wales.
We look forward to bringing members more informative and engaging opportunities throughout the remainder of 2026. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for details of upcoming seminars and events.
